Four Reasons to Shop Shop Small + Local This Holiday Season (and always):

  1. Community wellness

Shopping locally promotes a healthy and vibrant community. Small businesses help sustain communities through their presence and contributions to local causes. They add character and uniqueness to the communities they are in as well. And support valuable public services through sales tax.

  2. Local economic benefits

Keeping your dollars in your local community means more money is available to support local jobs and fund local services. Small business owners typically spend much of their income locally as well, ensuring that the neighborhoods they are in are thriving and continuously developing alongside their business. These small businesses often provide some of the highest quality jobs to other community members.

  3. It’s Good for the Environment

Small businesses promote walkability in cities and town centers which can promote decreased use of cars in addition to requiring less transportation and packaging materials overall for delivering the goods and services sold. With physical shopping more limited this year, there are often options for local pickup, saving on shipping costs too.

  4. Support creativity + Entrepreneurship

Small businesses provide truly unique offerings and also promote economic innovation, which helps communities grow and thrive. Many small business owners pour their hearts and souls into providing truly creative and innovative offerings that add to their communities as a whole in addition to the lives of individuals that purchase from them.
