What is your background (education, previous jobs and/or experiences) that led you into consulting?

I have a Creative Writing MFA and worked in strategy and leadership development roles for a Fortune 50 company for 11 years before hitting a wall. I was a feminist organizer in college and brought that spirit into my corporate work, running women's leadership programs, learning from women leaders and mentoring other women in return. That's my true passion that my consulting business is based on.

What led you to start your business, Frittata Consulting?

I decided to build on my various experiences and side gigs to launch a consulting and coaching business while I was fortunate to have a bit of a sabbatical from my corporate career. I have a portfolio of coaching women in groups and individually, consulting with organizations on DEI projects, and writing for myself and other publications.

What do you think is most interesting or unique about your profession?

My profession is unique because it's built on only things that I can do, at this strange intersection of creative writing, strategic planning, and this thing we call Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.

What are some of your short and long term goals?

My goals this year are to get my poetry book published and to continue to grow my Substack membership and client base. Longer-term I want to help women get to the top ranks of companies (others' or their own) and be their go-to consultant for strategic planning and team effectiveness. I see so much potential, and I want to be part of big change. I also have a goal of making it to one of the women-only motorcycling campouts one day, so this year, I am working on my long-distance motorcycle riding.

What is one (or two) of your favorite projects you've done?

I love collaborative writing projects, like interviewing folks for my Substack. I am working on one right now that I'm going to publish in May that I'm excited about. It's a conversation I had with a woman leader in tech where we talk about creativity and data analytics, her career trajectory and ambitions. She is so smart, interesting, and very purposeful. I can't wait to share the writeup.

Another favorite project was technically a volunteer gig, but this time last year I taught a poetry workshop in person in the Louisville Free Public Library, and that was really good for my soul.

How would you describe the process of working with Lettering Works to establish your new logo? What did you enjoy most?

Working with Lettering Works was a perfect match for me because I am equal parts creativity and process-oriented, and I think Chelsie is too. So, I loved that the foundation for the project was my own preferences and ideas but then Chelsie brought her own eye and expertise to level things up. I also appreciate how straight-forward and easy the design process and communication went.

What value have you received from your logo?

I told Chelsie I wanted a logo I was proud of, and she delivered. It's given me so much joy to go in and update all my collateral with the new logo. I also love the new color scheme so much it's inspired me to create new materials.

Why do you think small businesses should invest in working with a professional brand designer?

I think the energy that is created from having a logo you are proud of makes everything you offer better. The investment pays off when your services shine brighter.
