Tell me a little about yourself.

Schae Lewis, CPO® is a Certified Professional Organizer and the Owner of Mission 2 Organize. She launched the business in 2010 with her best friend and is now the sole owner of the thriving business. On the job, Schae is a spark of joy, singing and dancing while organizing spaces to perfection but mostly you will find her in her home office keeping her team running smoothly. She is an active volunteer, leader and inspiration in the organizing industry. In her free time, she loves staying fit by kayaking, riding her bicycle, and snuggling with her cat. Schae and her husband also stay busy traveling to far off destinations like the Philippines, Colombia, and St. Petersburg!

What is your background that led you to where you are today?

Schae has been matching her pen to her outfit since she was in grade school. (Does anyone remember those pens with a string attached to the cap back in the days?!) While attending The University of Nebraska at Lincoln, Schae worked in retail, perfecting her color coding and folding skills. Straight out of college, Schae took to the friendly skies where she served as a Flight Attendant for United Airlines. Schae has always gravitated towards hospitality which is what led her into a career as a hotel concierge. There she thrived, honing her event planning, networking and multi-tasking skills.

Mission 2 Organize is inclusive!

What led you to start Mission 2 Organize?

My best friend tempted me with a fancy dinner one night in 2007 which included a business proposal. She didn't have an exact plan in mind but after compiling a list of our loves and strengths, we quickly determined that everything had one common denominator: organizing! For years, people in our lives had touted our skills for creating order so we knew we were on the right track. After a quick internet search, we found NAPO (the National Association of Productivity & Organizing Professionals) and jumped right in joining the organization in 2010.

To be frank, working for the man is what inspired us to start Mission 2 Organize. Having your own business is a tremendous amount of work but the flexibility and independence it provides is undeniable and totally worth it. Plus, we get to live our passion and, that alone, is enough to motivate and inspire.

You already celebrated your 12-year business anniversary. What has been the proudest moment in these first 12 years?

My proudest moment renews itself day after day. Each time I run payroll, I swell with pride knowing that the business I started so many years ago is supporting so many team members’ lives. Each time I read another 5-star review written by one of our clients, I feel a huge sense of pride in my employees and the powerful work they do on a daily basis.

What is your best organizing tip?

Wait before buying organizing products. Buying organizing products is not the only thing (or first thing) that needs to be done in order to get organized. You will need to declutter and sort before you try to contain your items or purchase any products.

What are some of your short and long term goals?

Our team is made up of fun, talented and entertaining women. It has long been our aspiration to share the Team M2O spirit and our love of organizing on TV.

What is one (or two) of your favorite organizing projects you've done?

We have a lot of clients who have been with us for many years, some over a decade. Helping them through impactful life transitions is extremely fulfilling! Recently we had a returning client show us their renovation plans for a home they are building from the ground up. They appreciated having us advise them on how to design the layout of their new home for maximum functionality and organizational flow. When the time comes, we will be packing them up, managing their moving day and unpacking them into their dream home. Seeing them through this transition positions us as trusted advisors in their lives into eternity.

How would you describe the process of working with Lettering Works to establish your branding?

Lettering Works really listened to our desires and spent time getting a feel for who we are as a brand. They also took into account that we are visual people. Chelsie worked with us to create screen share videos to explain each step in the process and allowed us to do the same.

What did you enjoy most about working with Lettering Works?

I was immediately drawn to the first logo drafts that Lettering Works sent me. It was at that moment that I knew I had made the right decision hiring them. Not only did they provide us with the end results we needed, but they advised on how best to use them for maximum benefit.

What value have you received from your new logo?

Before our rebranding, we were tired of and a little embarrassed by our company logo. Now we are proud to share our logo and branding with the world! We have no doubt it will have a huge impact on Mission 2 Organize’s social media footprint, allowing us to create more brand-centric content and share our existing skills and expertise. There’s already a new feel to our company and an excitement amongst the team. We are refreshed, rejuvenated and ready to go to the next level!

Why do you think business owners should invest in branding their business?

Branding is so important! In a nutshell it’s your business’s identity just like the smile you wear, the way you carry yourself or the outfit you wear on a first date. Done well, it “sticks” with people and encourages them to want to know more about you and engage with you personally and professionally.

Business owners can struggle to create their own branding or pay someone pennies to do it for them, but chances are they won’t be satisfied with the results. In order to have branding that you can be proud of and excited about, it is important to invest in a professional who can look at your business with an objective perspective while adding their creativity and expertise to bring about the best possible results.

Fun Fact about M2O: Long before YouTube was the second most used search engine, we were uploading “how to” videos so people could see what the magic of organizing is all about. We enjoy getting all dolled up for the camera and showing folding techniques, storage options, product recommendations and more to our 4k subscribers. To date, we have more than one million views of the insightful videos on our award-winning channel, M2O-TV.
