Lettering Works Celebrates 10 Years in Business with a $10 Course Sale
March 10th, 2026 marks exactly 10 years since the successful funding of my first Kickstarter project for Just My Type of Lettering, the book that started it all. The book itself started as an honors English research project and developed into an inspirational guide to lettering that served as both my design portfolio as well as the catalyst for turning Lettering Works into a real small business, funded by prize money from my university’s student entrepreneurship competition.

If you’ve been following along for a while, you know that I don’t offer discounts often.
I believe in advocating for artists to charge their worth. When reflecting on ways that I wanted to celebrate the milestone of 10 years in business, I started to brainstorm how I could both commemorate this accomplishment and also give back to so many who have supported my business along the way.
I am excited to offer my courses at a discounted rate for a few reasons. First, I believe the information shared will have a ripple effect on artists and small business owners, allowing them to thrive and grow with confidence. Second, I’ve realized that the income generated from my courses is no longer essential to my bottom line. This creates an opportunity for me to give back in a thoughtful and intentional way by making my most accessible educational offering even more accessible.

My signature course, Self Made Artist Academy is currently available for only $100 (regularly $249) because it is a more robust signature course and $10 wouldn’t be a fair price for all the value that is packed in. Discounts are applied automatically at checkout.
I know that it’s easy to purchase an online course and proceed to never log in, so I want to be clear on who these courses are for and encourage you to purchase only if your needs align and the timing is right. Learn Lettering with Chelsie Tamms - This course is for anyone who wants to dive into the basics of drawing letters. I will walk you through everything that I would share if you took an in-person lettering workshop with me (remember the ones we sold out on a monthly basis at the Art Garage in Peoria back in the day?). This is perfect if you’re an artist who wants to level up your lettering or you’d like to explore lettering as a new hobby, maybe in conjunction with your junk journaling? No fancy tools are required, we’ll just use basic pencils and Crayola markers, so you can grab whatever tools you might have available and learn some new tips and tricks.
The Power of Passion Projects
The Power of Passion Projects - This course is for artists and designers who want to adopt my creative marketing strategy of leveraging passion projects. You want to be inspired to start your own project which you may be interested in taking on because you’d like to recenter your interests and passions in your work, you might be exploring a career change, or you want to try something outside-the-box to market yourself. Additionally, small business owners can find great creative inspiration from this course even if you don’t identify as an artist or designer. The principles that I share here will help you think more creatively in how you present yourself, your ideas, and your work.
Are You on Brand?
Are You on Brand? - This course is for any small business owner who is considering hiring a brand designer or who currently DIYs their branding and could use a good baseline knowledge about what branding is and how to implement it more thoughtfully. If you’ve ever felt self-conscious about your branding or like you don’t even know where to start, this will help grow your confidence around the subject.
Self-Made Artist Academy
Self-Made Artist Academy - This course is for artists (which I generally define as anyone who is creatively pursuing their passion). Think painters, photographers, designers, sculptors, jewelry artists, but also chefs, private practitioners, authors, studio owners, and more. We dive into all the basics of business, so this is best suited for someone who is just getting started, feels overwhelmed by business or like they skipped some of the basics when getting started, or someone who is ready to revisit foundations.
This is the most robust course of my offerings. Six modules cover topics of knowing your numbers, diversifying your income streams, pricing like a pro, developing higher value offerings, systems and processes, and building your personalized roadmap to success. If you’ve ever considered doing a 1:1 session, I highly recommend you enroll in this course and then book a 1:1 session so we can dive deeper into what you need the most support on. Think of this course as all of my best business advice wrapped up in a digestible, online format that you can learn at your own pace.
